Hyperscale operators now account for nearly half of all data center capacity worldwide

Hyperscale operators now account for nearly half of all worldwide data center capacity and could hold more than two-thirds of the market by 2031, according to Synergy Research Group.
In its latest findings, Synergy found that hyperscalers now account for 48 percent of the worldwide capacity of all data centers, with 60 percent of that number belonging to own-built, owned data centers.
Non-hyperscale colocation capacity now accounts for just 20 percent of total capacity, with enterprise on-premises data centers making up the remaining 32 percent.
